You were on the water. I was in my cube in a concrete anthill looking at your FB post & picture.

Wow. Interesting mixed bag of bait. I don't hear of pompanos being caught too often anymore. Those guys taste good...

I didn't know we had pompanos on the west coast, what is the little striped fish?

We do. They're also called butterfish. Used to be a pretty common bait fish just like tomcod. The striped one is called Salema, one of the more tropical looking native fish along our coast.

Dana can be one big tease. One day she gives you all she's got. The next she has you beggin' for some action.

Last time out she showed me the biggest sculpin I have ever seen. I heard her laugh as the season was still closed for a few more days.

Cool mixed bag of not so common Dana fish. Hopefully the bait gets its act together by Saturday

Let's hope so. I covered bout 5 miles and didn't spot one single school of bait. Water temp was 58 degrees and the visibility was beyond bad.

You typically have to wait for a couple of weeks after heavy surf at Dana, give the water and fish time to settle back in. The run off from the creek doesn't help either.
