Skunked, yet stoked!

LANDWHALE and I launched about 6:30 to cloudy skies with a bit of sun peaking through. Wind was nil and water was clear and 63º. Good current.

I tossed lots of colors, and got lots of short bites early on, but as the morning progressed the bites diminished and the wind kicked up. With the wind came the cold. I launched thinking about holding off on the jacket and came in shaking from the cold as my windbreaker just wasn't enough. Off the water about 10:00.

Steve managed to scratch out 4, but I got the big ole stripe down my back. But, so worth it. Steve is back!

That's a shame. Those guys sure do care about conservation, just look at their youtube videos gaffing undersized halibut and what not.

That was me. Glad you guys found some fish. How was the weather outside? It was blowing pretty good when we came in, but seemed to back off some by the time we left. We wondered how it was for you outside.

Hi Ed, I apologize for not introducing myself. I'm glad we found the right spots too, Jaime was our navigator, so I gotta thank him. Weather started getting real snotty around 11-1130, so that's when we headed in. It was pretty nice inside the harbor though! Too bad I was outta live macs by then though.

Btw- your van reminds me of the solicitor vans when I was a water guy at Yosemite. Same colors. Did you get it from them when they sold the company off in 2010?

Actually, the van is Landwhale's. I was in the Subaru. You were the one running to and from the water right?

good to see Steve out and fishing. How is he feeling? I need to get out there and chase some rock fish. How far out is it from the mouth of the bay to where you start finding them. Are there some rock piles or reefs people are fishing?

Hey Harry

There are rockpiles out there, just go out and start marking 180 feet. There has been a lot of pressure lately on a few small spots. I have been seeing guys going out in groups of 10 and all sitting on this one spot yanking up limits, on a weekly basis.

Most of the guys who knew the spot would go out on a monthly (if that) basis. The latest yahoos are going out on a weekly basis. Fishing is not what it used to be there.
