Bass and yellowtail rods are two completely different setups. The reel would be OK for yellowtail and killer for bass. I recently just purchased a HD300 and paired it with a Cousins 7'9" 15-25lb for calicos and it is an awesome set up.

Yeah I have a Raze and it is a killer rod. I was looking at a Teramar, Phoenix, and the Cousins. Not a big fan of the new Shimanos, and the Phoenix M1's were cool but I read so many reviews of people snapping them that I couldn't justify buying one.

My HD 300 is spooled with 50lb. braid and the setup is pretty dang sensitive. I was dragging jigs in 30 feet of water last week and could feel every rock I was crawling over. Best part is the rod is cheaper than the Teramar and the Phoenix.

I just bought that reel earlier this year, I paired mine with the Teramar 15-30 lb Heavy. Love this setup, it's my favorite from my collection. I have pulled everything from calico, to yellowfin tuna and even landed a Dorado on it earlier this year. They match so well together.

Remember to bring your reel in with you to the store, some rods don't have the right seat for this reel.

Thanks everyone for the input! I've gone out and pulled on most of the rods mentioned on this thread..However, I decided to go with St. Croix Mojo Inshore 15-30. I like how it is not as stiff as the teramars and the phenix M1s.
