Beginners Luck

I realize this isn't going to make me many friends around here....

First time fishing La Jolla from a kayak.
First time targeting YT.
First time getting new rod/reel wet.

I owe a great deal of gratitude to all of who share your knowledge on this site. I have been a lurker for years. I bought my new kayak 5 months ago, and it has taken me that long to outfit it with all the essentials... yesterday was a sweet day!! It went 28lbs. 41", caught on a fly-lined mac in 85' of water.

you are stealthy predator.

good for you. if it took you 5 mos to go out for the 1st time. When will be your second time?

now, 2 for 2 would be impressive.

Luck

Luck is as good as skill untill it runs out! Allthough I assume you do have considerable knowledge having done everything necessary to land this fish. Congratulations!

You're an inspiration for the other newbies! Way to go, and like others have said, there was more than luck involved here
