Has anyone drift fished Palos Verdes ending at Cabrillo Beach?
I'm asking if this a good or bad idea . . . Am testing the logic of it, timing of it . . . And tips to coming in at Cabrillo? We've not put in there before. While I know from reports here that there are "NO FISH off PV," it seemed like it might be an interesting tour with some kelp patties to try. I've no FF yet, so it'd be a little hit and miss chill time. Is the area just north from Abalone Cove the only MLPA? Beach diving that coast....it always seemed to have a south swell/current with wind coming up in the afternoon.

We've launched from Cabrillo Beach and fished the area between White Point and Point Fermin, its a nice place to fish but if you think the winds inside the harbor are bad wait until you get hit by the winds that curl around the Point Fermin peninsula. I believe the MLPA is further north of Point Fermin but just going from Cabrillo to White Point is a pedal/paddle, if you do it make sure you pay attention to the winds.

I've always wanted to. Launched and fished both white point and cabrillo but never paddled between the two. My dad's friends have always said they like to park a car at cabrillo then go launch at white point and work their way back to cabrillo. You obviously would have to have two cars but they do it, so it is possible. And there's no mlpa closures between the two 👍

Thanks for the replies.
From Terranea to Cabrillo it appears to be 8 miles . . . Abalone Cove about 6. White Point/Royal Palms about 3. Is there typically the south swell and wind blowing south you can count on so you're not fighting your way south? I'd presume you'd want to start in the a.m. to avoid p.m. winds?

RE: Launching at White Point and the Terranea schlep.
I've done Terranea and it easily a 1/2 mile of trail walking with the ledge and big cobble at the end. On a nice day, it's OK, but it'd bet weather would be a bear there. Thanks for the couple notes of getting out of Cabrillo by noon, I'd have probably defaulted to something like 2 pm and might be a bit of blowing. 'Really appreciate the help folks.
