When you too lazy to yak; what 3/4 or 1/2 boats do you like?

I'm finding I can get my wife to go out on some of the day boats. For me, the boats are an option when the surf's up . . .

'Was thinking of going this weekend.

Anyone have suggestions/insight on 3/4 or 1/2 boats do you like out of the Long Beach area? Or, all they all pretty much the same?

I am going out of Davey's locker on Saturday, I will be on the evening half day. I seem to have a good luck on the boat.

We JUST went out with them. A halfer that went up to HB and hit a few rigs and lobster areas. Easy going and well run.

Reading the tally board made me want to try some 3/4-day boats and hope to hit the bigger game.

One thing we learned . . . having a full size truck . . . was the parking structure adjacent to the docks doesn't park 'em.

We had to zip to the other side of the spit we were on and park on the beach side and then hoof it back the 2-3 blocks to board. Not a biggie really, but we didn't want to miss the boat!

Do any boats out of there or the LB docks standout good or bad?

I have never fish out of LB so I would be the wrong person to ask. I always have my wife drop me off at at the harbor. My house is about 20 minutes away. As far as big are concerned, probably not the best place to go out of. If you are interested, I can get you a 50% discount. Send me a PM and I will give you the info to get the discount.

I perfer Dana over Davy's or Newport due to parking at Dana is plentiful. But personal favorite is malahini out of H&M but the San Diego boats cost so much more and its a long drive for me.

Malahini by far my favorite 3/4 boat. Great capitan and crew. But that's not LB.

Thanks for the info. Driving to Dana is a ride, not so bad. Anyone with a "Malahini" local to LB, please chime in. Am looking up the schedule now.

Funny, I've been reading about Dana for a while and we only going to try it on my yak.

Victory, pier point landing in long beach. That pic is from 11-8. We got 61 yt! Looks like that died down though, seeing mostly rockfish on the reports.

The victory out of pier point is usually not as "shoulder to shoulder" as most 3/4 day boats, they don't go to the islands though and sometimes don't get live bait, but I like the boat for the $55 trip. And I love the El Dorados layout. They mostly do overnight trips to san nic usually and are around $135 to $150
