LJ 11/5 Nothin but but

MSW was way off on their swell prediction today.
Had a very wet launch.
Greenies were everywhere and easy to catch.
Didn't see any Yellowtail but found this beast that didn't like meeting my gaff.
Santa Ana winds made it a real bitch to get back in at the end of the day.
This is my PB for Halibut and my first one from LJ.

Wow fantastic fish Mike, congratulations.

No wonder I never saw you farther out.

I spent 9 hours on the water and caught 9 species of fish, 10 if you count Mr Seals sleigh ride, x2.

Congratulations Mike on the PB. That's a big Butt, it must be a Kardashian! Yesterday MSW's predictions looked close to spot on, till about 11:00 am and then the wind blew it all to hell. It was super choppy after that.

28.5 on the home scale which I think is real accurate.
If you ask my girlfriend she will tell you that the scale is off by 20 pounds therefore the fish is truly a whopping 8.5 pounds.

Josh, you seem to have the same luck with the seals that I do.

Nice 'Butt Mike. If memory serves, only one of a few this size this year in LJ (there have been soo few).

Hey Josh, if your going to paint teeth on your Kayak what don't you paint the bottom cream/off white to try and imitate the bottom of a Killer whale?there's nothing like seeing a bunch of seals "Haul A$$" through the water when a pod of those close in
Witnessed this once when working out of Redondo back in '83-84. One minute surrounding boat harassing our catches stealing a couple quality checkers and all morning until about 10a. Then the next minute "roostertails' and porpoising through the water heading for the harbor @ FULL speed
Funniest thing I'd ever seen!
