Thanks for the information... We know too little about sharks in the first place to know how they will react when they are in the area.
This is a risk everyone Takes, when fishing. It is a voluntary risk that we all take, and I'm glad you are alive to tell about it. Thank you for giving us a detail overview about what happened, and how to stay safe/prepared. I would of fallen victim to the same line of thinking before too, what is the chances of it happening twice. I am guilty in fishing Malibu after hearing about a shark that just devoured a seal, and I never gave it a second thought. How stupid of me, I can see now. I also thought shark attacks were more common in the twilight hours, but yours happened during the middle of the day! I remember roby always telling me at point dume when it was open, frank don't get to far this place is ShARKY, I will never fish solo again. Be safe and tight lines!

I believe I just saw some video of the aftermath of this attack featured on Discovery's Shark Week show named "Return of the Great White Serial Killer" tonight. Still amazed that there were no injuries.

I watched that show last night. There were two attacks in the same area on the same day from what the show was saying. It appears that every 2 years in October this area, the experts are seeing these attacks are happening in a cycle and they feel that there is a massive 20' shark, possibly another, that could be migrating to the area to hunt. They are trying to find the shark that killed those two surfers and possibly the same shark that's attacking the kayaks and boats in the area. Some crazy stuff for sure man.

IF the sharks choose to follow the 2 year cycle, but my guess is they beach up there will be closed during the month of October if it isn't already. From what I heard on the show, and correct me if I'm wrong any of you that watched it. They are trying to find the exact shark that has been responsible for the attacks so it can be killed. Did I hear correctly?

Insane. The Pattern seems to fit, it will be interesting to see if they are ever able to ID the shark that killed those to or if it's multiple sharks that are doing it.
