Thanks for sharing and I'm glad you came through alive. Scary stuff for sure.

glad it was a lesson learned and not anything worse...
"Kiyo" (the legend) shared some simple wisdom with me after i had an incident that i'll pass on to you all... if your hull has a serious amount of water in it, and you have a pump intake that drags in the water, take your pump line and pull it out of its connection to the bait tank and put it the pump end into the hull and let it pump the water out of your kayak... simple. i suppose with so many through-hull pumps this may not work for some, but it could be the answer for others in need... it would have helped me if i knew about it... |

Hi,
Eventually the past becomes a fund memory no matter what happens. |

Yes we did. I was there for the weekend for my birthday and you were catching lobsters to my amazement. Good luck when you head out and practice sure helps prepare you for what could happen.

From the picture I'll assume you fished the patch at deer creek or maybe Leo since it's easier to launch there, just the same though. That spot is notorious for spontaneous rollers and it drops off so fast they slam heavy and can get high by the time they get to the beach. I spear fished that spot regularly years ago and had to drop my belt (weights, catch bag, dive knife) because those swells got me wrapped up in the kelp. I too had a this is where it's going to happen moment, sucked. Glad you are ok and shook it off. Respect the ocean for sure, and that appears to be a pin back shark,
