The easiest way is to buy the same size treble with the cut eye. Use a couple of pairs of pliers and open the eye by bending it sideways just far enough to make the opening fit over the ring then bend it back. Very strong, the hook will straighten out before the eye will open. Dont cut the ring and replace it with a split-ring.
