La Jolla 4/20

Went out to LA Jolla yesterday. Lots of people launching. Got to watch me have 4 waves break on me. So much for my timing of sets. It did wake me up though. After catching some bait went to the outside around 120 feet of water. No love on the trolled live bait. Did have one big sardine slashed. It seemed like everyone was after rockfish. I didn't have any squid, but caught a mixed bag on a big hammer with unibutter. I even caught an octopus. It somehow squeezed out a scupper hole while I was trying to take a picture of it. It was a pleasant day. Saw a whale, several dolphin, and lots of fish in the kelp on my way in. I really dislike to 14 inch limit on calico. I seem to catch them all in the 12-13 inch range.
Here's to a better day next time.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll give that a try next time out, which can't be soon enough.
