Newps 4/21

tried my luck with threshers today. caught 15 live candy macs in 15 minutes, headed out deep and saw no life. trolled for nothing. said "screw it" and chased the rockfish. somehow i ended up with limits of nice size reds and 2 boccaccio. also caught a big starry but i let it go since i like the meat of reds more. it started getting windy so i headed in at 11.

Jeez Vince! You keep this up and you'll be finding that your freezer is starting to be a little cramped on space.

Good job!

outside near the newport canyons. in about 200ft of water. you just have to look for the school of fish because there is virtually no structure out there.

holy smokes.. across from the pier? on Google Maps, that looks like a long way from the harbor and jetty! Or do you launch from the beach? BTW, that's a cool, very RED, pic!

Awesome! Japanese rockfish in this area average much smaller and not as much variety.

This interests me as well, do you just cruise out to the canyon and try to locate schools/any structure on your ff and then drift or troll @ that depth? What are they biting on? I have gone out the last few weekends wanting to locate some reds and have had no luck. I appreciate your help!
