Latest Mirage Drive change

I picked this Outback up yesterday from Hobie and saw this newly designed spine, with the drive seal built right in. This must be a running change and not "2013" This is also the first Outback I have seen with the pedal retention moved up to the side. The rec hatch is an upgrade

Funny, I was thinking about making a drive seal from fiberglass and silicone for mine. It can be a nice feature.

This would prompt me to consider buying a new Outback to replace my perfectly fine Outback.

Hey Ice,

any word on the drives becoming available on their own? I'm tired of getting that shooting spray and flooding on surf launches and need a back up.

see what i mean about flooding. it slows you down a lot.

so you are looking for the whole new drive unit? It is a running change, so I am sure I can get one.

yes. its supposed to minimize water coming through, correct? I'm interested to know how its faired and if there's a price difference from the old unit.

How does the locator pin come out? can I fit that pin in a v2 drive? The drums look a little different too.

Andy, I was going to call you, there was an owner's package that I didn't open when I picked up my Outback on Saturday. It came with the drive seal and seat scupper plugs.(Found out when I finished looking through the registration stuff when I got home.).
Looks like I need a back up mirage drive, the upgrade gives me an excuse.
Now I have to upgrade the hatch to store my Fly Boxes. they don't fit through the regular hatch my other option is to store in the front hatch (should have bought the front hatch liner). Just gives me a good reason to come back down! LOL!
