Favorite reel, my Calcutta D400 paired with an 8' med/hvy rod I built. Its perfect for throwing swimbaits or any other heavier baits. I took it out to LJ for rockfish and it worked magic. I took on a couple monsters with it as well. Unfortunately one fish was toothy and cut the line and the other monster pulled the hook. The reel is super super super smooth and like a mini conventional reel. Little pricey, but you get what you pay for.

I've ditched every rod I've had and moved into a complete quiver of Seeker Stealths.
They are very affordable, very durable, incredibly lightweight and look really nice. Seeker also has a great warranty. I've got an entire range covered. from 10-25 to 40lb with everything inbetween. I have Penn Fathom 15's on a few of them, mainly for big game. A Daiwa Seagate 35H on my 40lb rod for YoYo, Avet SX MC on my Surface stick and Abu Garcia Alphamar on my Halibut stick. I double my Hali stick as my rock/sheep/bass rod. |

My favorite outfit has to be my surface iron set up. Seeker Ulua 93H with a Daiwa SL40hv. Cause I love fishing the light iron. Mike

My favorite fly outfits are my Abel Super 8 mounted on a Scott Heli-Ply 888/3 & Abel Super 10 mounted on a Scott Heli-Ply 8810-3 with various shooting heads for calicos in the deep kelp.
The 10 weight comes in handy if there are any :1wsb: around. The Fly rod I use depends on the weight of the shooting head I'm throwing. My favorite conventional set-up is my Newell 322 mounted on my Calstar 530 or Seeker SJ85 for tossing surface . FFY Last edited by FlyFishinYakr; 03-09-2013 at 06:00 AM. |

Since I've yet to get a yellow. Need to concentrate on them this year. Mine would be my Compre Walleye trolling rod paired with a Abu C3. Killer rockfish setup. Great as a Lucanus or as a deep water dropshot combo. TC4 rod, soft tip and good backbone.

The secret is to have been a fly fisherman for over 35 years & make some influential contacts! I own over 25 Abel's (some one of a kind collectibles). I've never paid retail, but it still hasn't been cheap!!! But I also have never had one fail on me either!!! Also keep an occasional eye out on eBay for liquidation auctions!
