Don't waste your money on a 2 speed, especially fishing from a kayak. Jx vs lx. Jx is easier to cast due to the narrow spool. Put some 65lb spectra, top it off with some 40lb floro and your good to go.

The question would be which type of line are you planning to fish...mono or spectra? Both have more then enough drag for 30-40lb setup
If 100% mono then LX If any combination with spectra then JX I actually like the 2spd just in case you do go on a boat |

No 2 speed isnt necsessary but if you can afford it why not? 2 speed does come in handy when your crankn up that pesky BSB from the bottom or that huge YT you cant get a crank on...

Just purchased one of each from CharkBait.
The JX pulled out a 33 YT without any probs. 2 speed? Why? They are both nice and shiny..........your choice. On a kayak you will not need anything more than a JX. |

This post was very helpful because I also was wondering what ever to get. And I'll agree 2 speed is not necessary and you can still catch fish without it just fine, but also carbon fiber paddle or a HDS fish finder is not necessary but man they are sure nice.
Only time I have ever used my 2nd speed on my tyrnos is when squid fishing, made it actually enjoyable to drag them up from the depths lol. |
