jigging rods
was thinking of getting a set up, something in the 25lb class like the TVC70ML to carry around to jig up everything from rockfish to yellowtail but doesn't seem like alot of guys use them. any ideas why? and if you have one or used them before can i get some feedback?

I have a Trevella TVC70L w/ shimano 300dsv. The reel is sexy, fun to hold. The rod is light and as you suggested is a also "stiff".
I'm looking to put it to good use with either species you mentioned. Just haven't found either in dana point. |

People are scared of the light stuff because you need a back bone to pull a fish out of the kelp. I pulled a 50 class WSB up with a Trevala. If it were in kelp, I would have lost it. I bring a Terez waxwing out for open water fishing. I love fishing the light stuff, but here Its all about getting fish to the boat without risk.
For the record, I fished trevala with saragosa 4000F combos for sail fin and mahi on the east coast....flawless performance |
