Camp Pendleton Clam Beds

Anybody ever ventured to the Camp Pendleton Clam Beds? If so roughly how far of a paddle is it and what have you caught out there?

Thanks

A matter of fact i love clams! Wheres the location to these mysterious clam beds that only you seem to know about? Oh and by the way i dont think many of our local fish population live underground with the clams

I think it is north by the big white radar balls (golf balls). Seems like a long paddle (4+ miles) when the reefs are a little over one.

For what it's worth, I talked to the Game Warden on Pendleton and he said someone caught a huge striper in the basin last weekend.

Thanks for responding, I was reading that it was pretty good spot for fishing. I did not realize it was that far of a paddle. That the info I was looking for!

And excuse my ignorance, I was not aware that clam's lived underground.
I am learning new things everyday!

Thanks

It was wide open on WSB during the sand bass spawn this year. Alot of people were catching them off the san o domes when they were stacked on the clam beds.

Those are 2 different Clambeds. The Box Canyon Clambeds (South of San Onofre) are at 33 deg 18.66' N - 117 deg 32.81' W. The other one from BD is the South End Clambeds (outside the Hovercraft station). The Box Canyon Clambeds are 4.7 miles from San Onofre State Beach, and have been visited by kayaks at least twice in the last year that I know of. Unless the Squid are there it is probably not worth the trip.

I know this. i was speaking of them on the south beds when people were also getting them up north.
