Went to La Jolla yesterday with dreams of catching a 63 lb WSB. Stuck it out into the dark, with the big fish being a no show. Turned out to be just an awesome evening, where the water glassed off perfectly, with not even a hint of wind. No moon in sight made it super dark out there, which made for great views of the stars. There was a live band playing at some event near the condo to provide some OTW entertainment. The calicos, cudas and turds were active enough to make it interesting as well.

Early in the afternoon I made a quick trip out to load up on tacos. Nothing huge caught, but shallow water rock-fishing with spectra is fun no matter how you slice it up. I’d like to be bummed about no WSB, but rockfish are so damn tasty its hard to complain.

With that many rockfish in the tank, it is hard to complain. We'll take that as a backup ANY day, when the right kind can't be found. Makes us hungry just thinking about those tasty treats.

Even though the big ones eluded you, it's hard to beat a nice night at the shores.
