PB first WSB Today ......
I ask another kayak fisherman nearby if he has a gaff and says yes and start to paddle over. He set up and takes a swing with the gaff and fails ...(no worries dude, I thank you for the help)... Then .......... ......... a Big effing seal comes by and grabs the WSB and goes straight down. You should have heard the curse words coming out of my mouth .... lol .... so I fight the seal for 10 to 30 seconds and he lets lose and I crank the fish to the kayak and grab him by the gill plate and yank him aboard ..... I bought the kayak a year ago and this is my personal best to date. 37 inch WSB |

Congrats on winning the battle, legal is legal and to beat out a seal for it makes it that much better, the fish looks like it came through unscathed.
You worked for that one...

Congrats on your PB, but since it was your 1st WSB it stands to reason it would be your PB. Next comes one of the big ones.
Did the meat come out okay?

The seal did no damage thankfully, just a few teeth marks, no loss of meat.
About 6 months ago I had a big sheepshead hanging over the side on the game clip and a seal almost capsized me. He did managed to loose me a fishing pole in the ordeal. It's all good. |

Nice catch! I came over to congratulate you otw (and to get a hint as to what was working). Today was slow and out of the (approx 20?) boats at "the spot" you were the only one I saw or heard of that got a fish. Today, you were definitely THE MAN! Thanks for posting.

Thanks guys.
The brand new vacuum sealer works fantastic. Put some in the freezer. The Grilled WSB for lunch was extraordinary good. The ceviche will be done in the morning and the meat came out perfect from the lime bath. The fish soup was totally gross. The wife freaked on that one. Tomorrow fish sandwiches or fish taco whatever the daughter wants. What a great tasting fish with firm meat. |
