Sailing PA14

Ok I have the PA14 and was going to get the sail for it but I love the arms on the AI with the net on it. First question is, is there a way to convert the arms from an AI onto a PA and how stable is the PA while sailing? Yeah makes it a lot heavier and I have seen several videos of guys sailing a PA on lakes but not in the ocean.

I thought of trying the same thing but cost alone makes it not worth it. You're better off using the Hobie Sidekick Ama Kit.

With trying to retro fit it to the PA. The biggest issue is installation of the cross members that the amas connect to. The amas have some play vertically and the width of the PA would prevent that. Well, that's if you try to utilize the cross members versus having a custom one made.

There are bunch of sails for kayaks that would work on a PA but your going to limited to down wind of a few points off down wind. With no keel or dagger you're not going to tack or move up wind. Still most of our prevailing winsd around here is on shore so a down wind sail could still prove effective. Mike
