Talking FNG

Hows it going guys. My buddy told me about this site and so far I love it. Just got my first kayak a few weeks ago just been paddling around the harbors for now but I wanna get her hooked up and start catchin some fish. Never fished salt water before but I can't wait to get some gear and get out there. Here's my kayak picked it up used. It's a native watercraft manta ray 14 needs alittle outfitting but it's a start and gets me on the water

Oh and you guys in the 30-60 lb clubs are insane. Pics blew my mind. Happy fishin guys

Whats goin on my man? Welcome to the forums. I fish Newport Harbor every now and then, let me know if you ever want to go. If you haven't, stop by OEX in Sunset and talk to Andy. Nice guy. He'll answer any questions you may have, and sell you anything you need.

Fair warning, you will spend all your money on this sport. Welcome to the addiction.

The 'Security Token' for was created sometime last year after the site was hacked by some kid in the Ukraine. You will need to go to the GENERAL KAYAKING forum and in the SEARCH field type SECURITY TOKEN BWE-321.aRev.2.2.....DO NOT USE THE COPY/PASTE FUNCTION, IT WILL NOT WORK, you have to manually type it in. The form will give you further instructions on what to do.

Check out Big 5 off of Golden West. They seem to usually have a decent rod or combo on sale. Don't rush it though... When you first start, you really only need something to handle whats in the bays/harbors.

I picked up a few things from Big 5 not too long ago... Excerpt from a previous post of mine...

Daiwa Saltist 50 reel $129.98
Sabre Classic Stroker 30-60lb 7ft (to go with the Saltist above) $40
Okuma Sea Demon rod/reel combo 7ft 15-30lb- $90
Daiwa D Wave rod/spin reel combo 12-25lb 2pc 8ft $40
