Water Taxi by PA

Wow! What a day. I caught the water taxi lol (my husband on his PA) from Shelter Island over to the Coronado bridge there and back. I caught 4 spotted bay bass and 2 sculpin. I might not be catching the big ones yet but I'll be there soon. Last weekend he took me out to La Jolla but the surf was rough, but we headed out anyway. Once out there for two hours with large swells I started to feel sick. I never get motion sickness but on this day I almost tossed my cookies. So we decided to head in and the surf was even larger and I said to myself NO GUTS NO GLORY. Well I ended up eating it hard lmfao so I'm a little more aware of what could happen. But the good news is I didn't lose anything! But a little scary for the first time with gear. He said when he gets home in six weeks we will try again. But on a nicer day!!! A year ago I wouldn't even bait my own hook! Now I am almost doing it all. (still a little slow on learning knots) but I'll get it over time. So to sum this up I'm very proud of my catch today.

YES it was a long ride but fun none the less. I got to relax for the most part eat and enjoy all the funny looks people on sail boats had. I pressed the nitro button a couple of times but I must have forgotton to refuel them/him lmao JK honey xoxoxo Were going again this Sat but we will launch closer to bridge lol I tried to tell him the night before but he was being stubborn!

The PA is worth its weight in gold/fish! My 11 year old daughter sits on the back shes 116 pounds but she will start ridding in the Hobie Lani he bought her cuz she weighs him down with her chubby butt.

I have done that trip a few times now, launch from the beach and work my way to the bridge and back, too much fishing time lost to the trip, so next time I get down there I am going to arrange for a pick up at Tidelands, let me know when you are planning to go again...one of my favs, I was there 2 weeks ago and stopped counting at about 20...and it
will get better in the weeks to come

Your really doing good Kate!! Its cool to see you out there learning and doing! You are gaining experience every outing, and good on you for giving LJ another shot. Its not often a new person gets their experience on the water instead of fishing on the internet!(u catch real fish on the water)! Can't wait to read about your next fish......

I got my wife a fishing pole for mother's day. I need to show her your post, Katfish, cause your smile speaks volumes. Your man has a midshipman there. Those things are a trip the first time you see one. Like lowprofile said, don't skimp on the water out there. And there are plenty of nicer days to look forward to. Its worth spending an hour or two messing around in the surf on your kayak. Leave the gear at home and just practice going in and out through the waves. Get the feel for you yak and build some confidence. Mike
