Not a Thresher in the pic. Either Spiny Dogfish, Brown Smoothhound or Soupfin. Caught 4 similar fish last Fri. south of the harbor near the edges of the red tide.

Depends on the location of the anal fin relative to the second dorsal, and if the teeth had sharp points. Did you notice if the nose was fairly translucent?

Ok....It had teeth and YELLOW EYES...the eyes were creepy....The way it rolled and fought I thought it was a Thresher...I don't recall the nose...any ideas?

I got out the water about 2:00pm, was pretty sloppy outside, strong wind, heavy surf, whitecaps made for tough fishing. Came back to the harbor and played with some small barries and large mackerels for about three hours.

Good to meet ya out there. Slow day for me....1 decent calico. Lots of missed bites on the 5 inch big hammer with Warbait Slayer heads straight through the heavy kelp. Pretty nasty paddling back in at 1130 can only imagine what it was like by the time you came in.
