Transducer Mounting in Revo?
My current mounting location under the seat is subject to noise/interference (mostly vertical lines) depending on current direction and peddle position. Thanks T |

I did and it works fine. The only down side is that it takes up some very precious room in the front hatch.

thanks. Great to hear. Yeah, that is one downside. I use that hatch to store the Mirage drive and FF head on landings. I plan to use SuperLube inside a thick cut-out foam holder. |

No need to store the Mirage Drive when you land. Just strap it in the up position and you will be fine. When you become more experienced, you will find that peddling all the way in works in many situations.
I have no facts to back this up but I bet that most Mirage Drives that have been lost during landings would still be with their owners and in good shape if they kept them latched in place rather than pulling them before entering the surf. Bob |

Mirage Drive on reentry
Ds,
I'm to stiff to "jump out" in knee deep water, so ride it all the way, and so am anxious about leaving the fins exposed. Mostly I land at about a 30 to 75 degree angle to the beach. Couldn't a turbo fin get caught on a rock or just wedge into the sand and bend a shaft? Do you surf it all the way into the sand, then drag it to the drier sand? I leash my Drive to an eyelet I installed, so I'm more worried about flipping when the front hatch is open! T |

bungee the drive when you land so when your feet come off, it will put them up against the hull.

Took the Plunge
I'm mounting the long XNT 9 DI transducer about 1/2 off the centeline between the sail mast post the the Mirage drive cutout. It's too long to fit on the centerline. Tonight I'm marine gooping a foam cut-out to the hull, gluin gto the sail post mast as well. Tomorrow I'll clean out any excess goop on the inside, and run a bead around the outside edge of the foam cut out.
Per suggestion of another user, I'm going to try Super Lube in the cut-out and bottom of the transducer. Just a light layer which should press out to a thin coating. Hope to try it out next week end at LJ. Funny thing is that the transducer bottom has a metal protrusion (temp probe no doubt) that seems to prevent the transducer from laying perfectly flat against the hull. It rocks slightly. This might allow air between the transducer and the hull. Maybe I'll use a dremel to sand it down even to the transducer bottom. |

If you are not centerline will the transducer face straight down? In my simple mind, if it is shooting even a little off center you will reduce performance.
If you were to mount it in front of the mast, couldnt you goop in a protective cover, a shell of some sorts over it? This way when you throw junk in your front hatch your baby is protected. |
