12/13 AM
Launched at 5 through some chest high tough-to-time sets. In between sets at the pier, it was doubles and triples of perfect greens and browns on the sabiki.....just had to time it so you didn't get caught by set waves  With bait made quite quickly I boogied out to the 'spot' to rummage around with a candy catcher....no go on the squid makage. Water feeling around 60, and the water was a green 10-15ft vis. Set up drifts with the offshore wind along the northern lobster bouys/canyon edge. A pair of Dirk Digglers on the bottom, and iron I did toss. I got intense zing and a miss at what Arne always referred to as Pat's spot, but I think we'll rename it Arne's spot for this month. Teeth marks were dangerously seabassesque and reached all the way up to the eyes of the bait--that's as close as I came to anything serious. Boneys and turds all on the yoyo to add a little fun to the morning. Buttass cold but had the entire place all to myself. |

Nice report, you are like a pioneer these days with all the inclement weather around us now. Looks like an upcoming week of big swell and big surf.

Thanks for the report Dan. I'll be out tomorrow, surf be damned. Hope I can remember where that spot is since my GPS is down.

Fished 1-5 PM for a lowly lizard on the yoyo. Surf was ugly 1-2 footers, but the winds were pretty light and it was t shirt weather for a little while. Just glad to get out there. I took a bunch of porpoise shots as they were corraling bait and shot by me many times.

You were on the right spot Dan - I haven't seen any evidence of squid in the fish I caught, though. Nothing but empty bellies. I think we need a weather front or two and cold water to come through to stir things up a bit.
