WSB at LJ..........6-5-11

After a few trips to LJ, after a few hours on the water:

Me: This LJ fishing sucks, we drive our ass over here paddle around till we are sore and don't catch crap.

Buddy: Yeah, what the hell are we doing wrong?

Me: I don't know, but I'm ready to do some trout fishing again. Nothing like the ripping of 4 pound line off of my micro reel.

Buddy: Can't wait for the Sierras this summer.....

Me: I don't think I'll be coming to LJ for a little while.....

....ZZZZZZZZZZZZ.....

Both my down and my fly lined rods are making a little noise, just a little like one second........

Oh, just kelp again....

I better go reel it in to check up on my little Spanish friend.

As soon as I grab my flyline rig, it goes off. It is on and it is staying on.

She took some line, I took some back, hey I can see her below the yak....I guess she saw me too..... here she goes again, straight down. Cleared the other rig, gaff ready, clip open....

The little girl came up nicely next to the boat and ran into my gaff with her shoulder.

50 inches

43 pounds

Lol that last trip to La Jolla wore me out! I think I am just going to fish local. Its too much money on gas, time, and energy. I rather spend it in the water locally.

The "injury" is probably from Matt tying down the WSB so tight with a bungee cord since he knew no one would believe him if he lost the WSB to the ocean....

roby, you know matt so well....you probably would believe me when i tell you that he was sweating bullets coming in. he was so paranoid about losing it in a yard sale, so he had me help him load it in the back and strapping it down with, yes Bungies..... and it wasn't enough to have the game clip running thru the gills, he had to have a rope pass thru and tied off to the boat; just in case....LOL
who knows, that maybe me when i pop that cherry

Nice WSB, that would have won thousands of dollars for you if you had been fishing the WON tourney. Thousands. Gotta love that ceviche. Congrats.

Thanks guys.

YES, I was paranoid coming in, with my dumb luck I roll with it and it disappears into the dark canyons of LJ......This was my biggest yak fish ever and did not know exactly how the other guys handle their meat in this situation.

First dinner was last night and it was delicious.

Who is in for YT this Friday and Saturday, Tim and I will for sure be there on Friday and I'm there Saturday.

They are giving away FREE YT and WSB at LJ!
