LJ conditions 5-7-11

hit it at 8:30ish
on the water til 5:30ish
cloudy skys
breezy in morning
which stayed with me all day
never got to white caps though

launch ankle slappers
landing a bit more challenging
jumped out waist deep and walked it in

eel grass clumps everywhere
and orange weed got stuck on line regulary

bait not on surface
but made some greenies

trolled around
dropped in the weeds
nada all day

brought my cart this time
way easier then adding to the traffic on the sand

clipboard lady at landing
"how was the fishing?"
me
"lousy"
clipboard lady
"can i ask you...."
me
"not interested"
clipboard lady
"er ok have a nice day"
me
"meh"

Best one is the kids that come trying to get you to subscribe to the newspaper. You should see the look on their face when I tell them that I used to do the same thing back when I was in high school. Funny how quick their attitude changes when you tell them you know the scheme.

As far as the DFG personnel with the clipboards....
Guys and ugly girls
Hot girls

You should CARE! People like you are why we have the MLPAs. Instead of pleading ignorance why don't you educate yourself?

If your not doing anything that your not supposed to be doing ,then I dont see the harm in participating. If we( Fish and game ,MLPA,Fisherman,Fisheries)would all work together and communicate ,then I believe plenty of good things can come to all .And to all I mean to the sport of fishing and the need of abundance in fish.To me the idea of closing parts of La Jolla for fishing rock fish and bass is not a bad idea .Think about it .We have so many places to fish .This closure will supply us with more fish .Any how , I am no expert on preservation or anything of a sort .I just go with what makes sense for the situation. We all have one thing in common ..we like the ocean and the fish in it .

meh

people like me
like to fish
(and c + r for the most part)
not take part in surveys
nor politics

people like me
were taught by my dad
that fishing is suppose to be fun
and not a stress fess

ok
read ure thread
i see where u are coming from

since i didnt catch any fish
not taking the survey results in the same net gain

cept for the macks
and i just dont see macks being ever put on a do not catch list
before every fish is on that same list anyways

how would i know for sure
that this particular clipboard lady
was pro fishing?
and not a transplant from the childrens pool lunies?

specially since iam not local
and not accustom to such persons
at my regular haunts

and you are very wrong
about that last comment
people like me
are not why we have fishing zone restrictions

i say to you about that
u dont know me
and lumping someones inaction as an action to restrict
is bull
(and i edited out what first came to my mind
as i tend to type as i think it and talk it)

those who seek to control you
will
regardless of what u think

the process was never ment to be fair
and i think most were just getting played
as is usuall with politics

Hahaha classic. I think you missed the point. Its not about them closing mackerel fishing. Its about providing accurate data so that one day maybe people will be able to understand the ocean and all the reasons why it is so amazing and beautiful. Some years there are lot of sardines, some years it's squid, then mackerel, then sardine...then squid... who knows? It would be nice to be able to predict it though right?

When you said you "didn't care" it sounded to me like you were saying f u to everyone who actually put up a fight to help control the mlpa process. Sorry but that one kind of hurt as I put in my time. Not trying to be personal about it, sometimes it necessary to be harsh... it was meant to offend people and make them care.

Trust me, I'm a skeptic too!

oks
no wish to dis anyone involved on any side of this issue
just not a fan of politics in general

bad data is not from me not saying anything
its from saying non truth
plenty of other data gatherers
out there collecting good data
that arnt these students as well

just wish everyone was skeptical
this world world be a better place fur sure

participating in bad data collecting just doesn't make sense to me... the way it's being done isn't scientific. i'm not rude, not ignorant, just not interested in participating (in this type of "science")... now let's go
