Snotty Monday

I had the whole sea to myself this morning, but for good reason. It was Monday and it was windy and rainy. I went out to the corner and the wind would blow me north away from the kelp pretty fast. So I zig-zagged all morning, to the kelp, blow north, and repeat. I started to zig-zag back home because there were some stiff gusts with some whitecaps and it was cold. But the water temp said 61 so I kept at it. Around 10am I saw the right signs on the sonar:

so I reeled in my drifting mack and sent it straight down. In 10 seconds the rod tip was vibrating, gave it some freespool for the drift, and hooked up. After I had been fighting the fish for about 20 minutes, Sharon paddled by and watched the rest of it and took the picture. She had to give me some tips on how to hold up the slippery beast, but I need to go out and practice on some more. Thanks, Sharon!

Nicely done...

It looks windy, crappy and cold---yet perfect at the same time.

Perseverance through adversity, I like your style.

Great job out there!!! Nothing better than being just you and the ocean. Well, it is nice to have someone be able to take your OTW trophy pic. If that someone is Sharon, all the better.

Nice job Andy! You guys had guts to go out in the crappy weather and you sure got rewarded for it.

Thanks everyone.

I used to have a rule that I told myself not to fish on snotty days because I never caught anything but a deep chill. But maybe I just have to learn how to fish those days.
