Hook up too

Another 0-fer for me too... two starry rock fish and about a half-dozen macks...
Don't worry everyone... they were all released unharmed.

Oh, p.s. almost got a citation today from the Lifeguards because we drove our vehicle south of the boat launch. Apparently the "boat launch" is north of the wood fence-like structure. Told me that "normally it's a citation".
Be careful!

I considered doing the same because of where we landed but decided against it....Guess I guessed right.

There was some huge breakers this morning, Uno, Dos, Tres paddle you arse off!!!!

I tried my landing technique again...............once I got close to where the waves were cresting I turned the yak around and paddled backwards while I watched what was about to come next. Took two waves slightly over the bow with no consequences, landed, exited the yak and starting pulling her out of the water.

Lots of yaks got flipped today....and I'm not talkin-bout rentals.

You did the right thing. I see too many kayakers try to surf and land.
Once you figure out that your trying to land and not surf, you will never
flip again.

The wind was wicked this AM but went away when the sun came out. Had a good hook up hear the Seaforth this AM. Fish was pulling be toward the boat and I did not want to tangle any lines, I pulled really hard and the 30 lb mono broke at the knot. Lots of dolphins and birds around. Good to get on the water.

Patience young padewan learner! Even most of the greats, Jim, Andy, Art, Brad, Josh, and a multitude of others (don't be pissed if I left some of you out...), spent countless hours OTW before their first Jewel triumph!

Enjoy the time on the water, and when it happens, it will be that much sweeter! BTW, it took me closer to 30 times out before I got to do the "Happy Paddle back in"

Surfing Lessons!

All the Surfers here, listen up!

I am offering introductry lessons on "Picking out the best/ largest waves to surf"

Today, I patiently waited for the "right" set of waves to appear on the horizon before I said "GO"

With about 6 kayakers on the shore (I hope they enjoyed the show) My ass got turned a little and I am in the drink!

Stubborn and a little embarassed, I right the kayak and without looking jump into it and I go again. Made it out that time but took the three biggest waves right in my face. The front of my Revo slapped the water so hard coming over the crest I lost all my loose teeth.

Coming in was nice, rode it in pretty OK.

First and last time that I will get my butt handed to me on a launch!

Lost a $4 bait net. I'll get over it.

Oh, I didn't catch anything.

Matt

MATT!!!!!

LOL!!!!

I was waiting for your to photoshop a WSB if you came back empty handed. FISHING is hardwork, but so much fun.

I just knew you were going to come back with a big grin on your face showing everyone your white sea bass and how you almost sunk your yak trying to get it in.

The ocean didn't want you there either... I was hoping they had enough wsb to load one into your truck, i guess the other guys got them before you did.

the ocean was merciless the weekend. You should of seen me this weekened i had everything tied down and everything i couldn't tie down was in my kayak. I got flipped 3 times and didn't loose one thing. Just broke one of my flush mount, but Andy fixed it.

What's Your Time Worth?

QUOTE

"LJ = 0 - 6"

Let's see 6 trips = 2 hours driving plus 6-8 hours on the water
times 6 trips (60hrs).

Only one thing to do when your 0-6.

Call 800 DRK-HORSE

Do the math...

I called....just saving up some mula for the session. I don't spend much when going to LJ, last two trips have cost me $60, it helps when you have a carpool buddy. Additionally, if you're going to look at how much fishing cost than it's probably not for you. When I was a private boat owner I invested over $15K in a boat that cost me $18k, did I catch $33K worth of fish, nope....not even close.
