Headed out to La Jolla on Wed anyone else going?

I only been out to la jolla one other time and I am still a major rookie. I am going to go this Wednesday anyone else going? Also I have a couple questions if you guys could help any recommendations? what time should I be on the water? Do you guys just drop the macs on the FF marks or generally slow troll?

Thanks guys,

Question

I just started fishing LJ with my pops old gear but I'll be out there wendsday with my freind. I was hoping on meeting some fishin buddys and maybe picking up a few tricks. I've been out twice and only manage to make bait. I'll be in a yellow scupper pro driving a white F-150. My names Nikko.

It was nice seeing you guys out there. When I counted I saw 12 Kayaks out there and a few private boaters... Crazy busy in the rain no less! Too bad Gabriel was trying to deep six his Kayak. That was kinda scary for a little while. Guess it was good he wasn't out there alone that would have SUCKED!

Bait came easy. I was so excited to hook on a HUGE mack then I let him back to do his thing about 3 minutes later as I was trolling along... ZING and the fight was on for about 6 intense seconds. then nothing and the Dog surfaced and laughed at me. ha ha I lost 5 or 6 that way. Got mad and decided to Fish on the bottom. Limited on Staries and two Copper Rockfish (thought they were staries too) using chunks of Mackerel.

Gabriel and I wanted to thank you guys for helping him out with his yak going down. I feel bad for taking off to hunt for the big game first while you guys were still making bait. He is newer to yak fishing than the rest of us and probably would not of knew what to do when he looked at his hull full of water. That was the first time I ran into a situation like that and now know why you should kayak with others and double and triple check your yak. We later found out where the yak was taking on water. One of the caps on the bottom of his rod holders slipped off. It was a pleasure fishing with you guys and we should meet up again. Maybe Cabrillo next week ill keep you guys posted.

It was my first time seeing how fast a kayak can sink... Kinda, NO it did Scare me. All I have is a huge long sponge made for drying out the kayak. I am going to hook up a bilge system now... Dedicated electric with its own battery.

Glad to help and glad everyone made it home safely. Was a learning trip for me too...gonna rig up a bilge system and running lights. Yeah...Nikko was the one that was hooked up in the early AM. Saw him and we talked a bit after my landing. slow trolled 60-110 ft...no bites. Next time. Keep me posted on Cabrillo.

What type of Kayak does he have? Also wondering how so much water was getting into the rod holders. Was the water rough of something?
