9/6 carnivorous pinneped....and YTs
I thought this guy was harmless, hanging around, until he went deep and found my low one. Funny thing, he came back when I had a Yt at color, went up for a sniff and the fish made him shoot off like a lil rocket. Thing was as tiny as I have seen, like 2 feet long. Bait was a bitch at the pier and I only had 6 for over an hours worth of trying. It did not help that the lights were in the middle of the pier, not over one side or the other. My other 5 baits all connected with yellars. Kept a 17 pounder, released 3 6-10 pounders and had one break off at the knot. All between 7:30 and 8:30. Probably could have got more, but ran out of bait. Went in by the point. Big shoals of sardine and smelt with 2-4 pound boneys going at em. I threw the X Rap mackeral on my 8 1/2 seeker for quite a few before heading in. Beautiful morning. Saturday's tourney should be fun. I think 25 pounds will take the YT catagory

Sweet report. Nice clear pictures. Sounds like a lot of yt will be weighed in for the tourny. I hope the big ones are still hanging out at my spot on Saturday.

Kelvin, good taking to ya!
I forgot to mention that the full moon's higher tides have wet the sand and no more worries about getting stuck........for awhile.

Did you see my hook in the Little Guy?
Last Thursday Marc (Phreshwon) and I did the PM shift for a few YT. That little seal took one of my bait and caught himself on the circle hook (2/0 Gorilla hook). I ALMOST felt sorry for him... he was really stung by it. Dare I say he was a good fight? I did reel him close enough to cut most of the line away, but didn't trust him enough to try to get the hook out.
Obviously, he wasn't stung enough to stay away from other guy's bait. As always, nice fish, Andy.... |
