Last efforts for August (Wed)
Usual launch, bait, etc. A little after 7:00AM we started trolling. Julie picks up a bonehead quickly. Saved for bug bait or seal deterrent. Then Aaron gets one. Then Julie. Aaron gets bit 20 minutes after we were done "bone"ing, and reels in a 10 pound yellow. After that fish is bled and dead, Aaron decides to filet it on the water, then stow the meat on blue ice below deck. In the midst of this his flyline takes off. The line is wrapped across the bass outfit with the yozuri plug and won't easily come undone. 20 seconds later he decides to engage the reel anyway. Both rods bend and the plug flys thru the air but finally off his line. Bent backwards, close to flipping he's towed rather awkwardly. Jim Sammons was nearby and seemed amuzed, especially at the timing of the hookup, filet knife in hand, butchered yellow on the deck, etc. Once all the adversities passed Aaron got a nice tow and good fight. Long fish, with a big head and no gut. Here's his 23 pounder on the beach: Julie was suffering "Murphy's Law Syndrome" most of the day. The capper being when a cormorant flew across a trolled line and knit a spectra sweater. She managed the release without getting bit. Just a scratch or two. She also came unbuttoned on a nicer grade yellow just as we were finishing up (more Murphy). Good day all the same. More beautiful weather out there, and fish to boot.

great ride
I saw you getting towed again. It helps me stay motivated
knowing people who put in the time get the rewards. Congratulations on the toad. |

Too much going on there for a kayak...good job working out the mess. You know I've had problems with birds running into Spectra also.....especially when trolling thru a boil and when a big pelican hits that line it almost flips you over.
