Introduce myself/duckhunting pic
My buddy (Nam Vu) recently talked me into getting a kayak and I picked up a 2008 Hobie Outback (I think its called a hank Parker edition). I also just got an Abu Garcia revo inshore. I used to fish for spotted bay bass and shovel nose in mission bay, but I plan to start going to La Jolla with my buddy. I bought a Hobie Live well and I plan to get a cheaper ocean rod and Reel (maybe a diawa Sealine) I have no idea what rod to get I also Hunt Ducks at Lake Barrett in Jamul. This is my first my first duck season and I immediately saw the potential for my kayak as a hunting tool. I want to thank Rick at OEX in Oceanside. He got a hold of a camo hobie dodger and Hobie gun mounts for me. He also had a cool Camo grass set in his shop that fit my outback perfectly. Yesterday was the first outing at lake Barrett with the mirage drive. I got my first drake mallard that I am getting mounted. I wanted to share a couple pics of it with you guys and let you know that I will be on here alot asking noob questions about equipment and fishing. |

Welcome! Congrats on the duck. Looks like a fine duck.
Before you head out to La Jolla you should make yourself more visible...just sayin. |

Killer man. the kayaks are great for hunting the lakes. Also we hunt them a bit out at the river and a little on the Salton Sea. Its an addicting sport thats for sure. I plan to miss no more than 2 weeks of this years season.
So far we have done really well this season with a few nice limits and some geese mixed in. A lot of variety on the big ducks this year including some mallards, lots, LOTS of Pintail, gadwall, wigeon, redheads, and of course spoonies. |
