Irvine Lake 12/5/10

I typically shore fish Irvine Lake with either my kids or students that I teach at the high school I work at. Yesterday I wanted to catch my first freshwater fish on the troll and also give a "shout out" to the cool kayak fishermen I met on the water.

To keep it short:

1) It was a beautiful day with very little wind
2) It wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be
3) I tried braid on light line for the first time (not sure if I like it or not)
4) I kayaked in the rain for the first time
5) I caught a 3lb trout on the troll
6) Thanks BWE members for all the tips - I hope everyone made it home safe in the rain...

Did your guys' knees hurt as much as mine (cut it out Erick, thats not why they hurt) I must be gettin old, peddlin all day kicked my butt. All that for one stinky trout?

Fishin in the rain is actually pretty cool.

Hey Ful Rac, leave some room in your "man tent" for Erick next weekend!

Ok....plenty of room....outside! Tough fish'n for me, last weekend I would hook fish get'em in the net...the hook would get caught, and the fish would flop out....and see ya! some days you just can't win... but I had a great time, still managed a couple.

Tony.

Thanks for the invite Erick...if it wasn't for you showing me the ropes I would have never caught my one fish.

Haha...actually, they were cool enough to let me have lunch at their site. It looked like fun. May have to do the camping thing one of these days.
