Letter sent for each of us
Hey Paul,
We won't be able to take the trip up north, but the letter has been sent for each of us. Kudos to all those who make the trip on behalf of all of us. To reiterate, because I didn't find the link until going to Tman's 2nd post, the link is: http://salsa.wiredforchange.com/o/63...ction_KEY=2847 It is so simple to do. You should be ashamed to call yourself a fisherman/woman, if you don't at least spend 30 seconds to send this letter. I'm sending this link to everyone in my address book, regardless of whether they are a fisherman/woman. If any follow-up with the letter, that's more ammo for us.

My schedule sucks but I'll be there.
We'll put in a word to make sure they move the Scripps MPA boundary to address that pier issue. We don't dive there much (too sandy/sharky) but we're interested in keeping it open as much as possible (so you guys can kayakfish away from our diving area, J/K). For those who can make it, thank you and we spearos will see you there again. Cheers.

Reverse psychology right! Very clever. Why don't you just threaten to beat up everyone that shows up that you do not like, that should bring a ton of fisherman to the meeting. . That said: To EVERYONE!!!.... like Paul said: "We need to protect what we've fought for, we need to support commissioner Dan Richards, and we need to stand with our fellow watermen and conservationists." I don't care who you are, or what you have done in the past: Truer words could not be spoken!!! Though at this point the maps are probably as settled as if they are drawn in stone (at least as far as the fisherman are concerned), the envoros are still pushing for more. This is still our last chance to get our voices heard, and everyone should attend if possible, if for no reason to counterbalance all the other idiots who will definitely be there to the detriment of our cause. Stand up for your way of life; stand up for your sport. Make your voice heard one more time!!! Jim Last edited by Fiskadoro; 12-06-2010 at 02:07 AM. |

I sent in my message through keepamericafishing with a few select revisions. Thank you to those who are making the trip up to do battle with the special interest groups and santa barbarians!

Paul,
In addition to sending the link for the letter to everyone in my address book, I also posted the link on facebook with a request for additional letters/support for all who fish, or love someone they know fishes. Maybe others will do the same so we can get all the support we can before this meeting. Giving people the actual link makes it easy for them to do. I know my efforts have resulted in at least one extra letter being sent so far. That is better than none, and I expect more support after a couple of days. Again, for simplification, the link is: http://salsa.wiredforchange.com/o/63...ction_KEY=2847 ...send it out, everyone. Aaron

I can not bus any of my students into something like this. They are busy learning in school.
I did however provide some information about this crisis to my students. To date I have 5 confirmed letters sent by my kids/ and or their parents. I regularly talk to my kids about my (and their) fishing adventures. In my opinion, MOST young people (fifth grade) liked fishing or would like to try it. Suggestion: Talk to people at your workplace about what is going on, you will be surprised about how many people support fishing/ hunting rights. Question? Has there ever been an afternoon or weekend session/ meeting? If not has that issue been brought up? |

It's encouraging to see some action in this thread. Thanks for those who've sent letters or stepped up big by asking friends and family to do so too. The letter response is very good so far. Please pile on!
We need more people at the meeting. I'm asking you to dig deep, and find a way to get there even if you can't stay all day. We need more people to cede time. For those new to this deal, you normally get one minute to say what you have to say. If several other people (often 10) donate their time, you get more. If you can make the trip and sacrifice your time, you'll be very pleased with its destination. Very. Contact me directly if you need more info. I'm not going to post it in the open. I have room for two in my truck on the 15th. The downside is you'll be stuck up there all day, through the bitter end. On the other hand, there's bound to be drowning of sorrows / celebration of points scored with a couple of solid old-school kayak anglers from up north. ^During a Blue Ribbon Task Force / Stakeholder phase there was one evening meeting, and it was heavily attended by the fishing public, most of whom work for a living. That meeting went to 1 am! I remember watching as RSG reps from the enviro side snuck away or ducked out early. That one I enjoyed to the very end. The MLPA staff didn't schedule another for obvious reasons. The Fish and Game Commission NEVER holds meetings outside business hours. |

Some spearos with SUVs will be at the San Diego car pool lot.
I-5 and Gilman Dr Park & Ride (8002 Gilman Drive, San Diego, CA) at 5AM. We want to fill up the vehicles with fishermen/spearos to go to the meeting. Let's finish strong guys. P.S. King Harbor is the location for car pool for LA. So I was told. Details to come.

I'm new to this whole process. How long does it take? What should I expect? I'm looking at taking the day off of work, but I would like to know how I should plan my day (I gotta give the wifey some kind of agenda). I'm from Los Angeles....thanks. |
