7.5ft swell for Sunday
Plan A: go to LJ Shores and see for myself what 7.5ft swell looks like and see if I am willing to test my abilities in cold conditions. Plan B: scrap plan A and go to MB for an easy launch. Last edited by old_rookie; 11-27-2010 at 05:16 PM. Reason: added plans A & B |

7 foot at 7 second from the NW is going to be FUGGLY! I would only go to watch others get eaten!
they are saying 7 foot but the model does not look that big. http://magicseaweed.com/msw-surf-cha...ell&starttime=

Go with plan b.
Even that will be a stretch with the wind we'll have. Yes, a kayak is a small craft. PZZ750-281215- COASTAL WATERS FROM SAN MATEO POINT TO THE MEXICAN BORDER AND OUT 30 NM- 805 PM PST SAT NOV 27 2010 ...SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY IN EFFECT THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING... .TONIGHT...WIND W 15 TO 25 KT...BECOMING 20 TO 25 KT AFTER MIDNIGHT. GUSTS TO 30 KT. WIND WAVES 3 FT. SWELL W 2 TO 3 FT AT 11 SECONDS. CHANCE OF SHOWERS LATE IN THE EVENING...THEN SHOWERS LIKELY AFTER MIDNIGHT. .SUN...WIND NW 15 TO 25 KT...BECOMING 15 TO 20 KT IN THE AFTERNOON. GUSTS TO 30 KT. WIND WAVES 4 FT. SWELL W 3 TO 5 FT AT 10 SECONDS. SLIGHT CHANCE OF SHOWERS IN THE MORNING. .SUN NIGHT...WIND NW 15 TO 20 KT...BECOMING N 10 TO 20 KT AFTER MIDNIGHT. GUSTS TO 25 KT. WIND WAVES 3 FT. SWELL W 3 TO 5 FT AT 11 SECONDS. |

I would go with your plan B and fish the bay.
As I understand it anything under 65 feet is considered a small craft and should abide by small craft advisories... need I say more? haha Heck, I was on my Uncle's 35' Bertram today, and we opted to not go offshore due to the wind we've been having on the Gulf! Good luck with where ever you opt to fish!

Decided to go with plan C: surf fish Mission Beach. Turned out to be not so good of a plan. Wind was blowing, surf was big.
