Go, its a long period swell and shouldn't be big at the launch. The swell will diminish during the day, so it will be smaller coming in than going out.

I went out with TMan on Wednesday. Forecasts had us a little worried. The launch was easy. Never even got a spot on my sunglasses. As we headed out, the sound of the surf crashing against the cliffs by the Cove was really loud. Mist filled the air creating a fog that hugged the coast. We were a little worried about how things might be when we landed.

Twice while I was on the water, my wife called telling me that it was all over the news that the surf was epic. She, (and we), were sure that we were in for some trouble. As the day wore on, the swells calmed and when we finally landed, the surf at the launch was as small as I have ever seen it, maybe six inches. We did not even bother to stow our rods.

Forecasts are great for planning but nothing beats eyeballing the current conditions.

There has been a lot of discussion lately about whether we should be posting current and honest fishing reports. I will not add to that discussion here. On the other hand, condition reports should not fall victim to the censors. I think that everyone would appreciate a little heads up on what they might be getting into when they are heading for the launch.

Since someone is bound to ask, Tman and I were both skunked. We were the only fishing yaks on the water on Wednesday morning. Other than bait and a few Molas, we did not see any fish. Even the lobster boats were shooting blanks. I watched three pull in their traps. I did not see any keepers.

The only good news is that Tman may have found a new girlfriend. There was this cute brown gull that shadowed his yak for hours. Once when I peddled by, she decided to follow me for a while, earning her the name of Tramp. Later, she abandoned me and returned to her true love. No word on whether Tman got lucky or not. I know he did not catch any fish.

thanks Bob for the surf and fish report!!!!!!!!

it really helps to get a current first hand surf report because the surf reports can be confusing to the newbies (ME).

as far as fish reports, i feel im not much of a threat but just knowing there out there is encouraging.

so..... if anyone wants to PM me with a hot tip, it would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i promise not to catch them all

She was definitely the gull of my dreams...but after watching her prance around the yak, preening herself, the flirty demeanor, I've seen it before...she was just looking for a handout...
