7-1 SURF!

Got to launch at L.J. at dawn...tide pretty low and surf was pumping...not ungodly huge but there were definitely three sections to the surf...inside break, middle and large outside cleanup sets. Tried to time them out for consistency but there was none...some sets with 6 waves, some 10, some 13 and short period. The good part was that there were lulls for anywhere from 15 to 40 seconds at times but these were not consistent either. Watched a lot of guys get dumped and a few give up. Larger waves were with every set and were breaking in about 6 ft. of water so if you got dumped, you were swimming and definitely S.O.L. with finding lost gear. May be a good time to set up the La Jolla Marine Salvage business. Weather was awesome with no wind, clear water and sunny. Happy 4th to all. P.S....YOU'RE RIGHT...WAS A DAY BEHIND IN MY POSTING WHEN I PUT UP 6-31 SINCE THERE ARE ONLY 30 DAYS IN JUNE...HOLIDAY FEVER...ITEM CORRECTED THANKS.

Yesterday's surf was pretty small, but when I landed at 0900 I saw some good 3-4ft sets roll through... You could have had a nice barrel yesterday, clean rights. .

Concur. I'd rate it "Tricky".

Although the wave height wasn't huge; the waves had good shape early. Spent 1st hour with my son practing entries/exits. When we finally did get loaded up to go out in anger, I got caught in the middle of one of those undpredictable sets and nearly got flipped over backwards on the final set wave. Least I had my gear secured. Well, most of it anyway.

Missed out on the early YT action but had fun with c/r calicos on the inside off of the Children's Pool. Son caught a fat Calico and "leadered" a legal+ WSB same area.
