Right now it had got to be the Fresh Stuff or they won't touch it.
Fresh Dead from your leftover squid catching will work too , but nothing from the market will do. |

This is what you do...paddle out, right past the reserve, use your sabiki or a small esqueed catching rig, catch up a bunch, put it in your bait tank, and add a big block of ice to your bait tank.
And if that doesn't work, take them home and throw them in your freezer.

My last two WSB took the frozen squid pinned on a salas 6x rather than the live squid I was also soaking. I only buy frozen squid from Squidco, nothing else compares including 99 Ranch Market.

Ditto to the above from Dave. In fact I hooked a wsb on an iron tipped with two half squid because the bottom feeders nibbled off their heads.

Would the good fishing last longer if the squid boats didn't remove all the squid after spawning?

I have had good results with all of the above...fresh frozen, store bought, live....if they the WSB are around and actively feeding they will eat just about anything you put on the iron...even a bare iron doing its best squid impersonation!
For me, the iron has produced about 5 times more WSB hits than live squirts on the dropperloop or carolina rig...I mostly use dead or frozen on the iron and save the live ones for the bait rigs, or my picky friends. The YT on the other hand seem to be very picky and only eat the live stuff or the bare iron. ohh yeh, did i mention how much easier it is to land one of those soft lipped toothy giants on the iron? Good luck out there guys!! |

Seems to me the squid boats have drawn alot of pressure on the grounds especially at L. J. I selfishly hope that they go away. JMO.
