Jig Casting rod recommendations
Can anyone recommend a manufacturer and model? Searching the various manufacturers, such as Shimano, Seeker, Calstar, they all seem to have rods in this length and for casting, so it is hard to narrow down a choice; some are more expensive then others, but I hate to choose solely on price. Thanks in advance for any information. Kevin |

I personally have a 9' Kencore, and am currently wrapping a Calstar GFTR 800H. Depending on how heavy you want to fish, the 800 H is a terrific rod IMHO, but it is a pretty heavy stick. I wanted a combo for both yoyo irons, and large surface irons. If you want a rod exclusively for surface irons look at a 90J, or depending on your budget a SS Ulua. You can't go wrong with either Calstar or Seeker, both their blanks come with lifetime warranties.
What reel do you plan to use, and what pound test? (I assume you're looking for a factory wrapped rod?)

Fishinkid:
Thanks for the feedback. I am looking for a rod primarily for casting surface irons as I have rods suitable for yoyo irons and heavier jigs. My reels that I would use would be one of two I have, either a Shimano Calcutta TE 700 or a Accurate Boss 600X. I would prefer the Calcutta as it is lighter then the Accurate. Kevin |

Are the Shimano Teramar rods worth looking into? Their prices seem very good.

Thanks everyone for all the recommendations!
This information is helping me narrow down the selections. Kevin |
