Punta Francisquito, Baja

2 day drive down....last leg a 75 mile, 3hr bone jarring drive south from Bay of LA.

The bay consists of a restuarant and a few basic bungalows...no store or gas.

Set up camp at the uninhabited north end of the bay.

First day...first hour of fishing.

Lots of these plus nice size spotted cabrilla, snapper and white fish.

Stopped at the ramp on the way home for 3 days but no YT (no bait!) but did manage dinner every night.
Slept on the ground 12 nights and no shower....the bees at Francisquito were ever present and a BIG nuisance.....not aggressive but would fly up my shorts and when I would sit they would sting....3 times very close to the jewels. Francisquito water temp 65-70....air 90 in the sun but a cool sea breeze in the shade. The YT would sometimes breeze the beach in the late afternoons....6 schools one evening but I couldn't get them to take anything (YT off the beach is my dream).

40 min. south of San Quintin at a puebla called Costa Rica (and it is)...it's an abandoned sea urchin processing factory with a cement launch ramp carved into the adjacent cliff that nobody uses 'cept me and a few friends.....huge kelp.....WSB quarter mile out.....YT half mile out.....season lasts thru September.

During the full moon? I'm heading down to Abreojos in Oct. as well...around the 16th. Should be filthy with YT and I know a spot where the yellowfin tuna and dorado come in close. Keep me posted.

Looks like the end of Sept is going to work for Abreojos instead. I couldn't find the coverage for beginning of Oct. Does it shut down on the full moon down there? Need to check the Pacific Coast charts for whale rock and Pataki area...couldn't find in my other Maps/books...Abreojos vs. LA Bocana...which is bettter for the yak and lauching? Abreojos picks up a lot of south swell....Razors on the Yak anyone?

Have been a few times but never yaked; but launching the yak shouldnt be an issue worst case you may have to make a small trek depending on the size of the surf down the beach..... Jealous

ps if you like clams bring a pitch fork, stab the sand and twist and theyll pop right out on an outgoing tide
