I know a few people fishing that havent launched from La Jolla and Im pretty much a greenie launching also. Should be fun! I cant think of a better cause to eat sand at
Hundreds of Tourists and children launch and land there everyday.
-Just stow you gear before returning through the surf and it will be alright.

....but let us know when you are about to land, just incase you wipe out Big Time, so we can Video the whole event for posterity
Just kidding, you'll be alright.

Put the 2 Bosnians down on the list please Paul, big fish. I'll do my best to make it.

Never miss a chance to beat Josh. You get to rub it in for years to come.

I say we lock out access to BWE for 2 months for anyone that doesn't sign up. Stimulus package

Paul, thanks for everything you do!

A grand idea indeed...and if you compete on the WCW and don't sign up, minus half your points...

Friends, we're just one week out from the big benefit to raise cash to keep La Jolla and our other precious kayak and spear fishing sites open.

It's not too late to join us! Please sign up now at http://www.diamond-safety.com/signup-form.htm. You can bring your $30 to sign-in at the OE Express dive shop on Avenida la Playa on June 27 - tourney day - any time between 4 am and 6:30.

Day-of walk-ins are welcome, but if possible please sign up so we can tell Chipotle Mexican Grill, our fabulous lunch sponsor, how many buritos we'll need.

Raffle donations are gratefully accepted. Please bring your new or gently used item to sign-in. Our current grand prize is a Pelican Strike Elite 130 fishing kayak complete with seat and rudder.

Look for new posts covering the prizes and important tournament operational details in the days to come. We've got some special treats in store, like Cash for Trash (well, more like a prize), Catch of the Day, a Big Bass Bonus, and other things I can't tell you about quite yet.

Remember, this is not only a day of fun. This is a way to help keep your fishing access.

Current sign-ups have us at 49 for Big Fish, 18 for Big Bass, and 5 for Spear Fish. We need at least 100 boats strong. Don't sit on the side-lines, come on out and fish!

I know specific rules will be posted later this week. But I'll ask my question now in case no one has thought of it when planning the rules. I can never decide what I want to fish for once I get out on the water. I'm signed up in the big fish category, because I'd rather catch yellows or than calicos. But if things are slow I'll probably head into the kelp to bass fish. Can I pay an extra $5 to the bass jackpot an be eligible for either category?

Thanks.

Several people have asked about fishing both the big fish and bass divisions. We'd like to accommodate these requests but we've kept it to one or the other for a single reason - the rules are different. The bass division follows the Money Between Friends format - artificial baits only. Big fish, use whatever you want.

This time out we'd prefer to keep it simple. Thanks for your understanding.

artificial baits

Any of you guys in the big fish category want to see a LJ newbie (that be me) get the hook up in the bass category and give me any tips on lures or plastic to bring?
I'll bring my usual stuff but if you have any suggestions it would be great.

Thanks

I really wanted to come to this but I have a sculpture I have to install up in LA (Pershing Square) on the 27th for a public exhibition. I tried to get Permission to install Friday but it's not going to happen. (F'n Bureaucrats!!)

Good luck to all and keep up the good work Paul. I'm sorry I'm going to miss this one.
