Rainy Saturday At Tidelands

Pretty windy morning. I paddled out about 300 yards off the bridge and the wind blew me back to the golf course in a few minutes. I caught this little flattie right off the beach next to the golf course.

I paddled out to the same spot off the bridge, it is where the bottom drops off about 10 feet, between the 9 and 10 column about 300 yards off the bridge.

The wind blew me under the bridge real quick. Each time, a little spottie hit just on the other side of the bridge.

This went on for 3 more drifts and 3 more spotties. The wind was blowing me so fast that I had to paddle back to the starting point every time.

Then all of a sudden it started pouring. The rain came down hard for about 10 minutes. After that, the wind stopped, the water was glassy smooth, and the bite stopped.

I sat in still water for another hour with nothing doing, and went home, cold, wet and happy.

Very cool! Tidelands is still one of my more favorite spots in the bay to fish!

I forgot to mention that I just picked up some new Stohlquist dry pants at the Kearny Mesa store. Those things worked like champs. I was totally soaked on the outside, but the trunks that I had on under the pants were completely dry.

Rik at the Kearny store was a big help. Thanks.
