Roughing it in the Eastern Sierras

It's been a fun trip so far since the 9th.
"Todd Metal Art" and "Mitchel" from this site were up here when I got to Silver Lake. It was pretty cold for the first couple of nights but the days have been really nice with only a couple of days of thunderstorms so far.
Love that rustic cafe at the Silver Lake Resort. Great breakfasts and today I had lunch there for the first time. Check out the fish on the walls

Mitchells Rig at June and at Beaver Cove at Crowley Lake where he was camped. He said the trout were boiling in the cove and he was getting both Rainbows and Browns from shore on the Hookup Baits.

Deep Fish

A lot of the Trout were deep in Silver Lake at about 25' to 30'.
So, I've been trolling some lead core and working with the down rigger a bunch.
It's produced a lot of Released Brown Trout up to 16 inches.
Mostly on a small Lure Jensen with a small blade or the broken back Trout colored Rapalla.
Mitchel had some good luck at June and Convict with the deep stuff too and the Thomas Buoyant and the same color Rapalla.

Convict and Gull

Yesterday I fished Convict and it was SLOW. Only two Rainbows on the lead core with the same blue and white Lure Jensen. We fished back where the creeks come in and had breakfast back there too. It's so cool the way the Hobie seats come out of the boats to use on shore. Mt. Morrisson is so beautiful and Vertical!
Today I fished Gull and got skunked for the first time on the trip. Missed a couple of hits and got off the water just before todays thunderstorms moved in.

Got to watch this incredible fisherman the last few days along with the local Osprey too. It's a huge splash when they hit the water and can startle you if your not ready for it. LOL
Alger Falls and Horsetail Falls are both roaring and it's great to hear them all night long once the campground quiets down.

Crawdads

Picked up the traps after a three night soak.
The water has been anywhere from 47 to 50 degrees so I didn't expect the crawfish to crawl much. But it seems they were pretty active by the outlet of Rush Creek. Both traps there had about 25 or so nice size bugs in them. The traps back along the road in the middle of the lake each had about 10 or 15 crawdads, kinda slow.
Time for a boil tomorrow

It was good to see you.
Don't think I ever seen rain going side ways across the asphalt road before, only it wasn't raining.
It snowed 🌨 4or5 inches that was how deep it was on the table. The snow ❄️ storm added a nice touch to my adventures but I'm glad it didn't last long 😅
Peace ✌️ out.

Ya that's the biggest trout I caught not sure the wt. But it measured 20 1/2 inches and i caught it in that deep hole off June beach hwy side, its over a 100ft there 20yds from shore there. I got it on a Thomas Boyant on the surface. The 5 trout took me a week to eat with sides of corn and bush sugarless beans.
I let all the rest of the trout go after that. The 20 incher
Got alittle beat up in my canoe trying to get a picture.
So I left it to the young lady working at the landing. She was happy to get it.
