Hit the water around 8am, nice weather for a February, minimal wind and water was calm, dirty, but calm. Picked up some nice sized healthy bait from the receiver and headed out. The bite was very slow, kinda expected that, except for about a two hour period where the fish rang the dinner bell. First fish was a nice sized Calico, second, third and forth were good sized Sand bass. Got two on the sardines and two on the hookup baits. I stuck around for a bit, saw a young sea lion trying to eat a trigger fish, different. After the bite died, I headed back to the harbor where I decided to play around and see what was in there, landed a small halibut and that was the only bite I had. Well, except for two cormorants, which were landed and released, and a couple of VERY aggressive Pelicans who thought my hands were food, kept biting my hand as I would try to steer. I caught the main offender by the bill, lifted it out of the water and tossed it several feet away. It came back, so I decided I'd had enough abuse (I cried all the way home, not) so I retrieved the kayak and went home.
