9-27-2023 Mid-Week NPH AM Outgoing Tide Trip

Fished the entire AM outgoing tide yesterday. Ended up with 3 short Halibut, the biggest being 21"... Could not find a Spottie that wanted to bite, tried docks, mooring cans, bridges for nada. Lots of small 3"-4" Smelt in the harbor right now. The weather was nice so I also trolled the harbor entrance and out south a little. A few patches of grass riddled water, but still manageable. Only had one knock down on the troll of the Luckycraft XD in a smelt color pattern. Nice day but I am still wondering why I couldn't find any Spotties...? All the Halibut bit within 45 minutes on the High and Low portions of the tide swing. They ate a 4" Fluke drop-shot. Ended up with 8+ miles travelled when all said and done. All in all a great mid-week water therapy session!

Thanks for the report! Even if they weren't keepers, it still looks like a good time.

I think I am going to go to a larger sized fluke on my next trip (hopefully next week). I am looking for a legal and hoping a larger bait will equate to a larger fish...
