La Jolla 9-23-2022 on the Solo Skiff

Like many, I was looking to see is I could find some of the Yellowtail action that's been happening lately. Went out found some bait and search several areas. The weather was awesome and it made for a great day on the water. Thanks for watching. Tight Lines!

Good to see you out there Mark. At least you got some rockfish for the table. One field treatment for the sculpin poke is to urinate on it. Ammonia in the urine helps draw the poison out. Soaking it in hot water, even Coffee for 15-30 minutes can be done to help break down the venomous proteins.

Thanks John, I knew of some of the recommended treatments. But decided to just suck the puncture area and spit out. Tight Lines!

The first step in digestion and absorption of nutrients is saliva and the tongue. Be careful with the sucking method as it’s a direct path into your system where as a skin puncture can be fought off by the body.
