Baytubers Monthly Halibut Tournament - January 2021 - La Jolla Shores

Baytubers Monthly Halibut Tournament, January 16th, 2021 - La Jolla Shores

Well during these pandemic crazy times, it's time to get back to some sense of normalcy... the return of the monthly halibut tournaments!

Date: Saturday, January 16th, 2021

Place: La Jolla Shores meet at the launch

Time: 6am launch, 1 pm final weigh-in

Rules: All DFW rules & regulations apply - $20 entry (money between friends situation) - Single biggest (by weight) halibut wins total - A tie results in a split of the winnings - 1 pound per minute deduction on late fish (after 1 pm) - If no halibut are caught, the entry fees stay in the pot and rollover for the next month's tournament.

Social distancing and mask wearing is encouraged...

Note: Please get there early for sign ups, or find the tournament director on the water at ch 69. Make sure to have all necessary safety gear. Be aware of the reserve areas (no fishing). A radio is strongly recommended. This is a money between friends situation, let's keep it simple and friendly. Any issues or decisions are to be resolved by the tournament director. if you have questions or concerns please check out the baytubers.com site.

All Levels of experience are welcome! Fish, Compete, Be Safe, and have Fun!

Baytubers Tournament, January 16th, 2021 - La Jolla Shores RESULTS

Baytubers Tournament, January 16th, 2021 - La Jolla Shores RESULTS

We had 7 anglers willing to brave the "category 5" surf at La Jolla Saturday for another famous Baytuber get together.
1. James "theluckypig"
2. Greg "gregandrew"
3. Jorge "Jorge"
4. Roby "Roby"
5. Caden "Caden"
6. Don "Bellcon"
7. Cameron from BWE (good to meet you)

Day started slow with bait being easier to make for some than others but eventually plenty was found by all.
A hell of a lot of sand was pounded by the crew and long story short? There are no halibut in La Jolla  so the money gets bumped to the next tournament.
Now just because there were no halibut caught doesn't mean we didn't have fun... Anytime you are fishing with Caden and he has a working radio you are in for some entertainment and if he catches a monster 38lb yellowtail? everyone one in the canyon is going to know and have a smile.

Well that about covers it, I cant wait until we can end our days with a pot luck like we used to (F-Covid!)
If you have some words or pictures chime in brothers
I want to thank Greg again for making us fish La Jolla and to James for trying to relight the Baytuber Tournament fire it was a beautiful day and it was fun as hell sharing the water with you gentlemen, look forward to doing it again as soon as possible.
