Scupper Pro center twist hatch alternative

My only real gripe about my scupper pro is trying to get that twist hatch open when there's even a little bit of sand in it.

I have a spare hobie twist lock hatch lying about and it looks like with some cutting it would just *barely* fit.
I'm thinking that more than just wondering if I could, I should stop and ask if I *should*. Also keeping in mind that there isn't a lot of cockpit space for both legs and an open hatch.

Also seeing some OEM options that might be a direct fit.... Anybody ever tried this and have any dos/don'ts?
