Islandia / MB Sportfishing Closure

Dan just sent me this link...

http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports...6outdoors.html

I know we've all had various experiences with boats from this landing, but Jason's not always a bad guy, and Ernie is rad (he put me on my first and many more yellowtail). The Dolpin II overnight ain't too bad either. This is a serious bummer and I hope they get this resolved as quick and painless as possible.

Regardless of how you feel about the landing, the people don't deserve to lose their jobs like that.

Sorry to hear it, that is definitely a great deal of families that are being affected by the closure.

It is a bummer for the Dolphin and their regular clients. I'll miss the challenge of staying upright as the steam past me throwing a 3 ft wake

I bet they'll be back.

I won't miss the boats themselves inside LaJolla, but I truly feel for those that are affected by the loss of their employment. I wish all of them the best of luck in their endeavors to gain new employment, and will keep them and their families in my prayers!

Closure

It's too bad for a majority of us and them. I guess that means the seals and sea loins will be around us more now.

It is a bummer, I got the call last night about this. Going to make it hard for all my friends at the landing. Guess I need to get all my Sea Time signed off before everybody splits and goes their own ways,

Any word on where the Chubby and Dolphin might end up? One of the SD Bay fleets or something?

Ouch! Both my kids caught their first fish on the Dolphin. One of them wasn't having much luck and Jason came down with his own rig, cast several times and hooked up a decent calico, and then handed the rig to my son to reel it in. My son didn't care that he didn't hook the fish himself, he landed it and still remembers that day. Wish them good luck finding a new home.

This really sucks! Islandia is my favorite landing to go to and I have been going there for 4 years on a monthly basis! Man o man poor Jason; great guy just in a sour mood because he barely makes ends meet so even though he may cruise a little close to kayakers, he is a good guy....

I'm really flustered and confused... How did this happen and why? The article just outlined the basics...

"Prieto said KenCal indicated it wants to convert the docks to get more private boats in the slips."

-They could probably double the income from private boats.

Also write Jerry Sanders and the City Council. Let them know that fishermen vote. Politicians are in it for the next election. If im not mistaken the City leases to the Hyatt, let them know where your vote is going. After all it is public land/water.

Typical San Diego change for the sake of change.

Look what happened to Old Town, remember Casa Bandini?

If you want to hit more principals of Kennedy, they are listed here: http://kennedyusa.com/principals.aspx

Following the same format it should work to email them.

Hey Rusty,

Got a reply from Trevor today. Basically he said that everybody will be split between Seaforth and Fisherman's with the Exception of the Chubasco. T-Rog said he couldn't give details as to where they are going because it is not finalized yet but as soon as its for sure he is supposed to give me a call. He did say that the Chubasco will do fine in the new location though. Who knows, maybe a blessing in disguise for Ernie?

I will keep you posted as I get more information from Trev, Jules or whoever contacts me.

Hopefully whatever is brewing works out for 'em! Thanks for the update CJ.
